Syllabus
Class sessions

We have a full-day session every Tuesday for this module. Learning is intended to be mainly practical, and most of the time will be used for practical exercises and problem solving. We will vary between supervised and unsupervised work, and between individual work, group work, and plenary discussion.

We are aware that teaching clashes with intensively taught best practice modules. Unfortunately, this cannot be helped as long as we offer optional modules from other departments.

The lecturer will normally give a talk/lead a discussion in the morning (8.15) and another after lunch, and be available depending on need the rest of the day.

Calendar
We have scheduled 16 teaching weeks from 10 January to 9 May. The first 15 will cover the syllabus, and the sixteenth is for revision. During this 18-week period there will be two weeks with no teaching, probably the school Winter and Easter holidays.
Assessment (Exam)
The assessment is a single 4h written, closed book examination. Check the official exam plan for date and time.
Evaluation

All NTNU modules are evaluated using a reference group. If you are not familiar with it already, please consult the official guidelines.

In this module, the reference group comprises the entire class, and every session constitutes a meeting in the reference group. We will spend a little time (almost) every time we meet to discuss how the module works. Likewise, you are welcome, at any time to comment on the teaching and learning and suggest improvements.

At the end of the semester, we will ask you to review the module report And invite comments and corrections. Additionally, the university asks you to complete a reference group form independently of our report (see guidelines cited above).

Workload

The module is worth 7.5 ECTS credits. By official standards, that corresponds to a workload of 187½-225 hours, or about 12 hours per week throughout the approximately 18 working weeks we have before the exam.
